Reframing - How it Works

The caregiver has to know about "Reframing" or how to recognize and to tell whether the glass is half-full or half-empty.  With this approach, one can put a more positive outlook on a situation. Thus:

One is tearful -- but with reframing, the person is sensitive, experiencing feelings.

One is yelling -- but with reframing, the person is exuberant, vocalizing, wants to be heard.

One is wandering -- but with reframing, the person is strolling and/or exploring.

One is pacing -- but with reframing, the person is on the move or athletic.

One is agitated -- but with reframing, the person is assertive, energized or expressive.

One is anxious -- but with reframing, the person is eager, excited.

One is uncooperative -- but with reframing the person is independent, self protective.
