On June 16 of 2000 the Governor of Illinois signed
Senate Bill 1613 to amend The Alternative Health Care Delivery Act by
authorizing the establishment of one Alzheimer's Disease Management
Care Center in Will County. Senate Bill 1613 goes on to state that
the Center would serve as a model under this Act and defines its
scope.
This was an outgrowth of efforts by Illinois Senator
Edward Petka who worked along with Dr. Richard W. Zalar to frame and
submit the Bill which was passed 57-0 in the Illinois Senate. The
impetus of the Bill emphasized the need for an Alzheimer care facility
in Will County, Dr. Zalar's home county.
We continue to work toward the establishment of this
Care Center in Will County as we strive concurrently to benefit those
afflicted with Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia as well as their
caregivers.
